SUMMARY:New Wealth in Texas: Update on Minerals\, Oil & Gas\, and Real Estate
DESCRIPTION:As drilling technologies have made significant breakthroughs\, oil & gas and mineral production has increased dramatically over the past decade\, allowing production in states where none existed previously.  Approximately twenty states now realize substantial mineral production each year\, creating opportunities for philanthropy that were not formerly available.  Joe Hancock – representing a foundation with over eighty years of minerals management experience exclusively for nonprofit organizations – will explain gifts of oil and gas interests\, minerals\, and other real property interests and discuss how to engage prospective donors of these gift types.  He will also discuss ongoing management of these assets\, address the applicability of partial interest and unrelated business income rules\, and clarify environmental and valuation issues. \n  \n2013 RSVP FORM \n  \n \nPresenter: \nJoe Hancock\,  JD\, MBA\n \nTrust Counsel\, Baptist Foundation of Texas \nJoe Hancock serves as Vice President & General Counsel for Baptist Foundation of Texas and its subsidiary\, Concord Trust Company\, located in Dallas\, Texas.  He has practiced extensively in the area of charitable planned giving for the past 17 years\, focusing on technical issues related to the research\, drafting and implementation of all types of charitable gifts. \n  \nJoe’s responsibilities include counseling with nonprofit organizations and prospective donors regarding matters of taxation\, trust law\, estate planning and administration\, and charitable giving.  He holds a BBA from Baylor University and MBA and JD degrees from the University of Arkansas and is admitted to practice in Texas and Arkansas. \n  \nJoe speaks frequently on topics related to estate and charitable planning and serves on the board of directors for the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. \n  \n
